When the drivers Linge and Falk would stuff the 911 into a snow bank (- not "if" but "when" - 1965 was the snowiest Monte ever) there is nothing to tug at to help dislodge the car. The only surface to hand grab was the fenders wheel openings but with spinning wheels it's the last place to grab a hold. There was also the bar running between the bumperettes used for hand pulling and to stand on to add traction when stuck on ice and snow. There is a period photo of a person standing on the lower bar and holding onto the leather straps, surrounded by 4 foot snow drifts.
